WEST CHAZY - Alfred Kalvaitis, 67, of the Ashley Rd., passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019 at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

Alfred was born in Plattsburgh the son of Otto and Ane Kalvaitis.  He grew up a farmer and later took over the family farm on the Ashley Rd.  In 2010 his son took over the farm. Alfred drove bus for CCPT for a time after that, until it became too difficult to do so.  He loved the farm and being outside and he also loved his bus passengers being called by many "Big Al".  He also enjoyed watching all of his kids and grandkids play hockey.  Alfred loved watching Avan play football too. He also loved watching Adelle his oldest granddaughter do Irish Dance.

He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Linda (Gilmore); his four sons, Ian (Kara), Hans, Kristup (Jessie), and Matthew; a daughter, Emily (David) all of West Chazy; a sister, Hedwig (Frank) of Delaware; a brother, Willi (Audra) of West Chazy; 10 grandchildren, Adelle, Avan, Karina, Kinsey, Jalynn, Audrey, Bella, Grant, Elijah and Alfred; several nieces and nephews.

Alfred was pre-deceased by his parents.

Donations may be made to the West Chazy or the Chazy Fire Department.

Calling Hours will be held Thursday, November 21, 2019 from noon to 3:00 pm at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh, a service will follow in the funeral home chapel at 3:00 pm. Burial will be in Ingraham Cemetery at a later date.
