Ann M.
Guilbo
August 18, 1964 – April 22, 2022
PLATTSBURGH - Ann Marie Guilbo, 57, of Plattsburgh, passed away Friday, April 22, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. In her final moments, she was surrounded by her loving family and was at peace.
She was born in Plattsburgh on August 18, 1964 to William and Cecelia (Barnaby) Guilbo. Growing up, Anne enjoyed going to Storytown with her family and camping at Macomb Park, which they did every summer. While camping she enjoyed hanging out with her siblings and friends, Beth Gonyea. She graduated from Plattsburgh High School, where she played basketball and softball. She also attended Clinton Community College, where she quickly realized that she was called to care for others in her career and in life.
Anne spent thirty-five years taking amazing care of the residents at Meadowbrook Nursing Home. Anne loved her job, she was a natural born caretaker for others, especially the elderly. While at Meadowbrook, she made so many amazing friends that would last her through her lifetime. The ones I remember her talking about the most were Blanche, Bonnie, Sally, Bea, Mike, Del, Mary, Maria, Linda and Kenna. Linda and Kenna were two of her best buddies, hanging out at Big Brother and going on camping trips together.
The one thing Anne loved most of all was her family. She loved talking sports with her brothers, going on camping trips with her sisters, going to the casino with her whole family, playing cards, and most of all celebrating the holidays. The family home was always decorated full out for Halloween and she made candy bags every year to pass out. Christmas was her favorite though. She loved having everyone together, opening gifts and seeing the excitement of all the kids. She loved singing Christmas songs and decorating for the holidays as soon as she could. In addition to spending time with her siblings, Anne loved spending time with all her nieces, nephews, and great nephews. She loved when we could all be together, whether it was just going out to dinner, going to bingo with her and grandma, or playing the tablet with her boys.
Left to cherish her memory are her siblings, William (Judy) Guilbo, Barry (Melissa) Guilbo, Robin (Tim) Doty, and Shirley Guilbo. Her nieces and nephews, Amanda Sears, Ruth Baker, Tasha Guilbo, Holly Guilbo, Cassie Guilbo, Andrea Guilbo, Katherine Guilbo, Christina Guilbo, Amber Doty, Jeff Doty, Brian Smith, and Robert Smith. Her boys and lights of her life, Levi and Landon Baker; and all her great nephews and niece, Leland, Hunter, Chester, Cole, Spencer, Aiden, Liam, and Kayleigh.
We would like to give special thanks to her friends Mary Rock and Maria Somoty, who checked in on her at the hospital and helped us through this difficult time. Also her friends Linda and Kenna for giving her and us some laughs in her final day. We would also like to thank the nursing staff on the third floor of CVPH. There were many amazing caregivers, but especially, Anna, Lorenzo, Precious, Bree, Lyonna, and Mia.
For everyone wishing to attend calling hours, we ask that you wear a sports shirt and jeans to the service as Anne never liked to dress up and we feel that would be a great way to honor her memory. Calling hours will be Monday, April 25, 2022 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at R. W. Walker Funeral Home in the funeral home chapel with service to follow. Burial will be held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of the R.W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court Street, Plattsburgh, NY.
