Arlene Kennedy
Patnode

PLATTSBURGH— Arlene Kennedy Patnode, 87, formerly of Bouck Street in Dannemora, passed away Sunday, September 13, 2020 at CVPH Medical Center.
She was born in Dannemora on September 21, 1932 the daughter of Philip and Lucy (Rushford) Kennedy.
Arlene, known as "Denie" to many of her closest family and friends, married Francis "Sonny" Patnode, on June 10 th , 1967.
Survivors include her children, Marybeth & Jim Gebo of Dannemora and Patrick & Cynthia Patnode of Saratoga Springs, NY; step-children, Sherry Varin, Robin Patnode, James Patnode, and Jerry Patnode; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis "Pudy" and Leo "Skip" Maggy; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband Sonny, sister, Lucille "Ceci" Haley and brother-in law, Russell Haley, brothers, Jerry Kennedy and Philip Kennedy her stepson Donny Patnode and her grandson Joseph Patnode.
The three couples of Denie & Sonny, Pudy & Skip, and Ceci & Russell were very close and had (and continue to have) a great influence on generations of family and friends. It was a very common occurrence during the 70's, 80's and 90's to have the entire extended family spending time together at Chazy Lake. Those memories will last generations and bring smiles and stories to so many people recalling Denie's and her family's history.
After graduation from Dannemora High School and Our Lady of Victory in Plattsburgh New York, Arlene worked for Standard Oil in New York City. Arlene returned home from New York City and spent the majority of her work career in the Office of Personnel Management at Plattsburgh Air Force Base, where she met Sonny.
Arlene was an intelligent, kind and selfless person. She devoted her life to making others around her feel special and protected. Arlene enjoyed played pinochle, cross-word puzzles, making pies (meat pie and strawberry rhubarb were two of her favorites) and spending time with her family and friends. Arlene was a devout Catholic and had a special bond with St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora. Arlene and her children were each baptized, confirmed, and married there and she spent a great deal of time praying for others in those pews. Arlene's smile could make you feel warm and happy from a mile away. Her last facial expression was a smile and we're certain that the first heavenly expression was also a smile. God bless you Arlene Patnode, you were a saint.
