Audrey Virginia Smith, 88, of Clark Street, Dannemora, New York, died at CVPH Medical Center on Sunday, September 18, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Helena, Montana on May 10, 1923, the daughter of John and Eva (Lynne) Inglis. Mrs. Smith graduated from Helena High School in 1941. She married Francis E. Smith of Lyon Mountain, New York in March, 1943, and moved to Lyon Mountain when Mr. Smith went overseas with the First Special Service Forces during World War II. After the war, the Smiths Made Dannemora their home. Mrs. Smith was employed for 15 years at the Key Bank in Plattsburgh as a bookkeeper and teller and later worked as a cafeteria assistant at Dannemora Elementary School until her retirement. She was an active member of the Dannemora Community Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years, and a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Mt. Hermon Chapter, Ellenburg, New York. Mrs. Smith was also a member of North Country Squares. In addition, she loved going to auctions and traveling to visit her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Smith was pre-deceased by her husband and parents, as well as her stepfather, Fred Guettler and stepmother, Ellen Inglis. She was also pre-deceased by a brother John Inglis as well as sisters Pauline Smith and Verlie Hammond. She is survived by two sons and daughters in law: Terry and Sylvia Smith of Columbus, Indiana, and Tyler and Annette Smith of Dannemora, New York, and two daughters and sons-in-law: Linda and Jim Reh of Plattsburgh, New York and Rinda and Abbie Opp, of Hazelton, North Dakota. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Stephen, Eric and Brent Smith; Alanna and Jacqueline Smith, Ryan Poissant, Kurt Reh, and Shane Fellows, as well as three great-grandchildren: Justin, Madisen and Logan Fellows. A memorial service will be held at the Dannemora Community Church on September 22, 2011 at 4 pm.
