MORRISONVILLE– Barbara J. Sorrell, 85, of Route 22B, passed away, March 7, 2024 at Meadowbrook Healthcare.
She was born in Plattsburgh on October 27, 1938 the daughter of Frank and Felinda (Stone) Rock.
Barbara married Roswell Sorrell on September 28, 1957 at St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville. Roswell and Barbara were high school sweethearts who were together for 70 years, raising their daughter Mary and welcoming her husband, Scott, as their son. Throughout her husband's Air Force career, Barbara lived in many locations throughout the world making several good friends along the way. Barbara enjoyed hunting, watching sporting events, her nightly talks with her sister, and spending vacations in Maine with her family. Barbara was most proud of the family that she built with Roswell and cherished her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her generosity, honest disposition and sense of humor.
Survivors include her husband, Roswell Sorrell; daughter, Mary (Scott) Baker; brothers, Francis (Janis) Rock and Greg (Brenda) Rock; sister, Linda LaDuke and sister-in-law, Brenda Rock; grandchildren, Anne Marie (Matthew) White and Christine (Nicholas) Stowe and 5 great-grandchildren (Avery, Ryleigh and Austin White and Colton and Vera Stowe), and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Robert, Donald and Floyd Rock; brother-in-law, Wayne LaDuke; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Laah Sorrell; and sister-in-law, Marie Fisher.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, March 12th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Alexander's Church in Morrisonville.
Burial will be in the spring in St. Alexander's Cemetery in Morrisonville.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
