Obituary

PLATTSBURGH – Basil R. Duquette, Jr., 66, of Adirondack Lane, Plattsburgh passed away Sunday, February 12, 2023 at his home.

He was born in Plattsburgh on February 2, 1957 the son of Basil R. and Joan M. (Quick) Duquette Sr.

Basil was a graduate of Plattsburgh High School and attended SUNY Potsdam. He married the former Lynn Soda in Plattsburgh, August of 1985.

Basil worked with NYSDOCS as a correctional officer, retiring from Clinton Correctional Facility after 36 years of service. He enjoyed spending time traveling with his family.

In his younger years Basil had a passion for baseball, playing in High School, College, Post 20 Legion ball and the men's league.

Not only was Basil an avid NY Giants fan, he also wore Yankee gear with pride. Along with baseball, another love of his, was golf.

The family ask that this spring when baseball starts or when you start swinging your clubs, tip your hat or dedicate a round to "Bas" and top it off with an ice-cold beer at the Fourth.

Basil was a loving husband, a kind and wonderful father, a very gentle soul to all. He was never one to be the center of attention, but a friend to all. He will be remembered for his love for his family and always being a kind and caring friend.

Survivors include his wife, Lynn Duquette; his daughters Valarie Duquette (Austin) , Vanessa Duquette and her fiancé Brandon Couture, all from Plattsburgh; sisters Victoria (Peter) McMillan of Morrisonville, Michelle Duquette and companion Jim Cring of Plattsburgh; nephews Roscoe Duquette, Christopher (Vanessa) McMillan and Josh (Allison) McMillan.

Basil was predeceased by his parents.

Services will be private for the family.
