Beatrice Mary Brushnefski, 89, of Plattsburgh, N.Y. was called home to the Lord, peacefully in her sleep, on the morning of Sept. 21, 2018. She was born April 16, 1929 in Coopersville, N.Y.
She was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Elizabeth (Jennette) Badger; two brothers, Loyal and Edward Badger both of West Chazy; two sisters, Hazel Lee of Buffalo, N.Y. and Rita Turner of Coopersville, N.Y.
Bea married Joseph S. Brushnefski of Chazy, N.Y. on June 23, 1948. They had five children, Sandra (Gregory) Duquette of Peru, N.Y., Susan (Ronald) Cahoon of Plattsburgh, Stephen (Lorraine) Brushnefski of Newtport, N.H., Gary Brushnefski of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Gregory Brushnefski of Plattsburgh, N.Y. She had 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bea graduated from Chazy Central Rural School in 1947. She was active in many community organizations including: Sweet Adelines, Red Hat Ladies, and Catholic Daughters Lilies of the Mowhawk, Champlain, N.Y. Additionally, in Catholic Daughters she served as Grand Regent for many years, and eventually District Director. Bea was an avid bowler in the New York State Women's Bowling Association, as she would say, "on winning team." Her team won many local and state awards.
Bea will be laid out at Saint John's Catholic Church in Plattsburgh, N.Y. on Friday, Sept. 28th. She will be waked in the church from 12:00-1:00, her funeral mass is immediately following at 1:00, and committal is at the Chazy cemetery after the mass.
