Obituary

CHAZY – Bernard "Red" Oliver, 89, of Route 9, passed away, January 9, 2021 at his home.

He was born in Springfield, MA on October 9, 1931, son of Henry and Loretta (Landry) Oliver.

Red retired from the New York State Department of Transportation after many years working as an equipment operator.

He married the former Norma Trombly on May 9, 1953. Norma passed away at a young age in 1964, and being a dedicated family man, Red provided for his family by working two full time jobs. He was a hardworking man who never let the "grass grow under his feet"

Red is survived by his son, Michael Oliver; daughters, Gwendlyn (Daniel) Utberg, and Nancy (Fred) Lagoy; brother, Leo (Susan) Oliver; sisters, Irene Baker and Giselle (Elmer) Corron; sister-in-law, Rita Fessette; grandchildren, Brianna Utberg, Anthony (Jess) Barry-Oliver, Timothy (Meaghan) Oliver, Matthew Oliver, Jennie (Brian) Ready, and Ryan Oliver; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and CCRS classmates ('49) Carolyn Smith and Phil Sanger.

Red was predeceased by his wife, Norma; two sons, Brian Oliver and Jeffery Oliver; three brothers, Gerard Oliver, Fernand Oliver, and Andrew Oliver; two sisters, Mary Oliver and Georgette Juneau; and brother-in-law, Clarence Baker.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Burial will take place in the spring in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Chazy.
