Betty L. Carlo, 86, of Chazy, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 15, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Plattsburgh, NY on July 17, 1939, the daughter of James and Irene (Bates) Varno.

Betty held many jobs in the hospitality industry. She worked many years at the L&M Lounge as Head Bartender and Hotel Manager until finally acquiring the lounge herself and renaming it Carlos Lounge. Betty also was former owner of The Beekmantown Country Inn. You could always count on live country music every weekend! She loved being in that environment, seeing people happy and having a great time.

Once Betty retired, her focus was spending time with her family, grandchildren and her best friend of many years, Pat Vogt. She also loved being with her furbabies Sami and Stella. Nothing made her happier than being in her own surroundings with her kitty and her family.

Survivors include her daughters, Susan (James) Wilcox, Patti (Tim) Trombley, Michelle Abare (Craig Lapier), and Penny (Kevin) Matott; sisters, Jean Hayden and Eva Macey; grandchildren, Steve (Rebecca) Mabe, Troy (Taylor) Trombley, Ashleigh Downey, and Cole Trombley; six great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Robert Joseph Brunell; brother, Harry Supernaw, Jr.; sisters, Margaret Varno, Nancy Grenier, and Charlotte Dashnaw; grandchildren, Jaime Mabe and Kelsey Sebert.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2026 from 1:00 – 3:00pm at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Committal prayers and entombment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
