MORRISONVILLE – Beulah Whalen, 94, passed away on August 28, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Ellenburg Center on August 8, 1932, the daughter of Charles and Laura (Bushey) Trombley.
Beulah graduated from Ellenburg Central School in 1951. On April 24, 1954, she married the love of her life, Bernard J. Whalen, at St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg. 

She worked at the Malone Diner and at Warner's in Malone, and for nearly 20 years at Schonbek in Plattsburgh. She and Bernard operated a dairy farm in Ellenburg for many years.

Nothing brought Beulah more joy than her family. She loved to attend and support her grandchildren at all of their special events. She was known throughout the family for her pies, which nobody has ever managed to match. She was an avid New York Yankees fan.

Beulah's Catholic faith was the center of her life. She was a longtime member of the Altar Rosary Society in Ellenburg, she treasured her rosaries and prayed them often, and she loved making the trip to Saint Anne's Shrine on Isle La Motte, a place that brought her peace for many years.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Bernie (Kathy) Whalen, Donna Whalen Matkoski, Brenda (William) Wood, and Randy (Cathy) Whalen.Beulah is survived by 10 grandchildren: Melissa Whalen; Barrie Whalen (Liz); Corrie Whalen (Becky); Matthew Matkoski (Erica Edminster); Brynn Matkoski (Matt Maybeck); Mallory Willsea (Grant); Marci Wood (Matt Marini); Meaghan Wood; Ryan Whalen; and Brendan Whalen. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Madyson, Easton, Bailey, Noelle, Finn, Lincoln, Rylie, and Eleanor.Beulah is also survived by her brother, Leonard Trombley; her brothers-in-law, Bill Matthews, Walter Whalen, and Richard Whalen; her sisters-in-law, Jane Barber Lalonde, Kay Whalen, and Molly Whalen; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard J. Whalen, in 2013; her parents; and her seven siblings.

There will be no calling hours. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Notre Dame Church, 11 Church Street, Malone. Burial will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Chateaugay, where she will rest beside her husband.
