PLATTSBURGH - In loving memory of Brett LaValley who passed away on April 12, 2026, at the age of 52. He was born on May 22,1973, alongside his twin brother, Brad, to May and Lanny LaValley.

Brett was a devoted husband to his wife, Janelle; a proud and loving step-father to Ethan Hilderbrandt (Katherine); and a beloved brother to Todd (Cathy), Brad (Kate), and Curt. He was also the fun-loving uncle to his four nieces, Erin, Sarah, Sophia, and Dana. Brett shared an especially close bond with his cherished rescue dog, Millie. He will be remembered as an acutely kind and gentle soul who loved his family immeasurably.

Brett grew up playing football and baseball at Seton Catholic alongside his twin brother—years that remained among their most treasured memories. He went on to become a dedicated special education teacher for 25 years at Stafford Middle School, where he made a connection and impact on his students.

An avid fly fisherman, Brett found peace along the river, often sharing those quiet moments with his brothers and father, and later enjoying music by the fire with his mother. He cherished time spent with family—whether around the poker table, cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers, or enjoying vacations where he could swim in the ocean and kayak alongside his wife.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 18th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
