Candace Elaine Bishop, 69, of Plattsburgh, NY, was unexpectedly found deceased at her home on January 3, 2024. She was born in Plattsburgh on February 7, 1954, to Ashley Hewitt Sr. and Dora (Comstock) Hewitt.

Although Candace was not dealt a fair hand in life due to her mental illness, she had a heart of gold and a smile that could light up a room. She is survived by family who love her dearly, and miss her greatly, even before death. She had one son, John (and Stephanie) Rugar Jr., who gave her two grandsons, Giovanni and Greyson. She also had one daughter, Elaina (and Eric) Duval, who gave her a granddaughter, Isabella, and another grandson, Quintin. She also has in-laws, and many nieces and nephews who love her dearly.

Candace was predeceased by her mother and father, and her brothers and sisters; Ashley Hewitt Jr., Glen Hewitt, Carol Vassar, Lynn Labombard, Penny Blackstone, Margie Orlowski, and Edwin Hewitt.

There will be no calling hours. A Celebration of Life will be celebrated at a later date.
