Obituary

PLATTSBURGH – Carl J. Dragoon Sr., 94 of Plattsburgh, NY, died January 6 th due to complications with Covid at Meadowbrook Nursing Home.

He was born on May 3, 1926 in Plattsburgh NY, the son of the late Harry Sr. and Jeanette Dragoon.

Carl was a US Army Veteran who was discharged in 1946. He was predeceased by his late wife, Theotis, whom he had married on July 1, 1950.

He held different jobs throughout his life and retired from the City of Plattsburgh Public Works Department. He was a devoted Catholic and member of St. Peter's Church.

The Dragoon men were known for their outstanding baseball abilities. Dad was a pitcher. Some of their achievements are highlighted in Robert Garrow's book "The Only Game in Town". Dad was an avid NY Yankees fan and enjoyed watching sports on his big screen TV.

He is survived by his five children and their spouses; his son, Carl Jr and wife Bernadette of Chateaugay NY, daughters Cheryl and John Ducatte of Wurtsboro, NY; Sharon and Erling Svendsen of West Chazy, NY; Shari and Robert Williams of Plattsburgh, NY and Dawn and Mark Leopard of Plattsburgh, NY. He is also survived by his grandchildren Lori (Paul), Jennifer (Raymond), Nichole (Oscar), Erik (Crystal), Edward, Eileen (Mert), Coleen, Evan (Angelia) and Nathaniel (Sarah). Great-grandchildren Ashley, Ava, Aodhan, Liam, Isabella, Maximus, Johan, Zuleica, Kayla, Adalyn, Odin, Ryan, Ela, Laurelie, and Isaac including many nieces and nephews.

Carl was predeceased by his loving wife, Theotis; parents Harry and Jeanette, sisters Doris, Theresa and Lela; brothers Harry, Charles and Robert; in-laws Albert and Ruth Mooso; Alan and Shirley Mooso and Natalie and Francis Golden.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to all the loving care givers of Carl over the last six years. Including Lauren Lemos, Pine Harbour staff and lastly the Meadowbrook Chestnut Grove staff and others who cared for him in his final few years; particularly the staff caring for the Covid residents in his final hours. It was a comfort to know he was not alone.

Due to Covid, services will be private at the request of the family.
