March 2, 1946 – November 23, 2021
PLATTSBURGH-- Carroll W. Wood Jr., 75, of Rt. 22, went to be with the Lord November 23, 2021. He was born in Plattsburgh on March 2, 1946 the son of the late Carroll and Rachel (Stone) Wood.
Carroll graduated from Beekmantown Central School in 1964 then attended a few years at Berklee School of Music in Boston MA. He married Ella Hibbard, his wife of 55 years, on September 10, 1966.
Carroll spent the majority of his career as an over the road truck driver for Mad River Canoe, Waitsfield VT, always managing to make it home for holidays. During this time he was able to foster his hobby of photography as he traveled through 48 of the US States. Carroll also had a passion for music and enjoyed playing his trombone with the Strawhatters Concert Band, SUNY Plattsburgh's Symphonic Band and multiple other events. Other pastimes included playing golf, camping and telling stories and sharing his humor while spending time with family.
Survivors include his wife, Ella Wood, his sons, Carroll and Ann Wood III, Michael Wood, David and Amy Wood Sr., Brian Wood; his daughters, Nancy Bennett and Amy and John Jacques.
Grandchildren and great grandchildren: David Wood Jr. and his companion Asya Somody their children Krystopher, Bentleigh and Braeleigh; Alyssa and Michael Sequin, Timothy Wood and his companion Tara Gonyea and their children Connor and Emma; Quinn Bennett and their companion Jordan Pelkey; Andrew Wood and companion Cheyenne Primo; Stacy Johnson, Brianna Hall, Sean Johnson, Abigail Bennett, Kimberly Gaboriault, Nathan Wood, Andrew Gaboriault, Anthony Wood, Joshua Gaboriault, Benjamin Wood, Evan Jacques, Noah Jacques and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Carroll was predeceased by his parents, a sister Rachel "Bert" Fleischer a brother-in-law Kenneth Fleischer and great grandson Nolan Wood.
A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.
