PLATTSBURGH – Cathy C. Maisano passed away on September 10, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on July 7, 1956, she lived a life marked by compassion, strength, and deep devotion to the people around her.

She graduated from Plattsburgh High School and went on to receive her RN degree from Clinton Community College. Following receiving her RN degree, she began working at CVPH Medical Center in May of 1979 and retired after almost 40 years of service. Nursing was not simply her profession, but a calling she embraced with dedication throughout her life. She loved being a nurse and a case manager, and her patients always came first. Cathy also received the Daisy Award for nursing. Those who knew her recognized her as warm, extremely generous, and a true powerhouse.

Outside of her career, Cathy found joy in the moments she shared with family and friends. She enjoyed playing cards with Homer and Sue, going to the casino, watching her nieces’ and nephews’ sporting events, rooting for the Braves and the Dolphins, and gathering for dinners with her friends. These simple pleasures reflected her lively spirit and the value she placed on connection, laughter, and time spent with those she cared about.

Cathy is survived by her brother, Tom Maisano; sister-in-law, Michele Maisano; nephews, Kyle Burdo and his wife, Nikki, and their children, Sydney Bell (husband Hunter and their son Colson), Sophie, and Halle, Craig Burdo and his wife Lori, and their children Brody, Kaden and Aubrey, Christopher Burdo and his wife Heather, Andrew Braverman and his wife Jennifer, and their children Jonathan and Ethan, Damien Maisano, and Daniel Maisano; and nieces, Jennifer Sawyer and her husband Alan Sawyer Jr., and their children Aiden and Avery, and Francesca Maisano. She held a special place in the lives of her family, and her love and presence will be remembered with great affection.

Cathy was predeceased by her parents, William and Anne (Giambruno) Maisano; brother, Richard Maisano, and sister, Karen Burdo and her husband Gerald Burdo.

Cathy leaves behind a legacy of care, generosity, and steadfast commitment to others. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 16th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. along with a service by the Shelley’s Watch Nursing Honor Guard.

Burial will take place at a later date in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
