Charles Anthony “Tony” Moore was born on December 28, 1953, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Douglas Fairbanks Moore and the late Eliza Matilda (Johnson Dunbar) Moore. After a well-lived life, Charles departed this world on September 15, 2026.

After graduating from Peru High School in New York, he attended Stony Brook University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in the late 1970s. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He eventually relocated to Philadelphia from the Syracuse area and went on to work for United Parcel Service (UPS). Later, he was recognized for his dedicated seven years of service as a bank security officer in Philadelphia, a role he deeply enjoyed, as it allowed him to build lasting relationships with both the staff and customers.

Charles was a firm believer in Christ and His power. He cherished spending time with his family, playing games, and lighting up any room with his exceptional percussion skills. He loved being outdoors, riding his bike, and tinkering with cars. His deep appreciation for nature began during his youth, when he dedicated himself to the Boy Scouts, achieving the rank of Life Scout. He was a hard worker, deeply committed to his choices, and carried a strong work ethic throughout his entire life. Beyond his outdoor adventures, "Uncle Tony" was a master of the billiards table, teaching many lessons to the unassuming on what true pool skills looked like.

He also found peace in creativity, finding it deeply relaxing to draw, paint, and sketch nature and people. He held an absolute passion for sports. Almost like an oracle, Tony could tell you exactly who would win a game, why they would win, and what their future held based on every changing variable. He knew more about the teams and their players than the organizations knew about themselves. Above all, his love for Christ and his belief in our Savior were made evident in the way he lived his life.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved son, Charles Elijah Anthony Moore; his granddaughter, Payton Ann Marie Hatfield; his brother, Mickey Douglas M. Moore; his sister, Charlest Rebecca Moore-Sweet; and his nephew, Charleton Moore-Sweet. He is also survived by his cousins, extended family and close friends, Patricia Griffin, Carolyn Lander, and the Moore, Doughty, McNorton cousins, Nevillia and Charles’s mother, Yolondia Carter and her children, Zion Carter and Tina Fuentes.

Calling hours will be held from 12:00PM to 2:00PMon Friday, October 2, 2026 at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 2:00PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery.
