Charlie W. Whitesell, 82, of Plattsburgh, NY passed away on December 2, 2022.  He was born on June 10, 1940 in Rockbridge County, VA, the son of Albert and Elizabeth (Blackwell) Whitesell.

He graduated from Brownsburg High School in Brownsburg, VA in 1958.  Charlie served in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1967 including a one year tour in Vietnam.  He married the former Sandra Jock on Jun 7, 1969 at St. Mary's Church in Fort Covington, NY.

He was employed at SUNY Plattsburgh from 1967 to 1996, retiring as a Plant Utilities Engineer managing the operations of the Central Heating Plant.  After retirement, he moved on to a second career as a Construction Inspector for the NY State Office of General Services from 1996 to 2005.

In past years, Charlie enjoyed hunting and fishing and had a passion for cars and trucks.  He always loved spending time with family, especially his wife, his children and grandchildren.  He also enjoyed watching New York Yankees baseball.  Charlie was a lifetime member of the VFW, holding multiple officer positions over the years.

Charlie is survived by his wife Sandra; his sons Shane (Julie) Whitesell and Brent Whitesell (Sherry Aguglia) of Plattsburgh, NY; his grandchildren Taylor Whitesell (Cameron McMahon) of Albany, NY and Bradley Whitesell (Jess Belmosto) of Plattsburgh, NY; his sisters Mary (Ronnie) Snider of Lexington, VA and Ruth Swisher of Rockbridge Baths, VA; his sister-in-law Elizabeth Whitesell of Lexington, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Leonard H. Whitesell and Eugene K. Whitesell, his father-in-law and mother-in-law Arthur and Martha Jock and brother-in-law Louis Swisher.

Services will be held in a private family ceremony.
