Obituary

PLATTSBURGH----Charlotte Elizabeth Carter passed away Monday morning, June 2, 2025.

The youngest of three children, Charlotte was born in New York City on December 22, 1945. The typical 'City Girl' grew up in Astoria, Queens, spending a lot of time going into Manhattan, visiting museums, movie theaters, Broadway shows and on more than one occasion, riding the bus to the Bronx to see her beloved NY Yankees play.

Charlotte married Roger Carter in April of 1966, leaving behind the city life for a life in rural upstate New York.  She bore that "Boy from Cadyville" three strong sons and one beautiful daughter.  She worked as a Playground Monitor at Cadyville Elementary School in the late 1970s and eventually worked as a Client Advocate for Sunmount in Rouses Point and Keeseville, NY.

She enjoyed playing trivia games, watching movies and baseball games. Her favorite actors were Cary Grant and James Garner. She was fluent in movie-talk, rattling off quotes from her favorite movies.  Her most recent favorite baseball player was NY Yankees Captain Aaron Judge.  She was an avid cosplayer, dressing up as Negan Smith from The Walking Dead and Marvel Comics/Films anti-hero DEADPOOL.  Her music tastes ranged from Frank Sinatra to Johnny Cash to Metallica and AC/DC.

She never missed a soccer game, track meet, wrestling match or high school play her children participated in. She volunteered her time working with the Saranac Wrestling Booster Club, raising money to send Saranac grapplers to wrestling camps and tournaments. If not for her supportive efforts, Saranac Wrestling may not have survived school budget cuts in the mid-1980s.

She loved to travel, and was able to visit places such as San Francisco, Miami, Boston, Las Vegas, Minneapolis, Jamaica, and the Bahamas.  She trekked to the jungles of Costa Rica, chased down wild ponies in Chincoteague, Virginia and rode Harleys in Daytona, Florida.

Charlotte was predeceased by her parents Henry Clifford Sr. and Mary (Smith) Clifford, her brother Henry Clifford Jr. and her husband Roger.

She is survived by her big sister, Helen (Clifford) Zundel, her sons Mark (Amy), Kevin, Travis (Michelle), her daughter Rachel Carter-Gilman, her grandchild, Damon Tefft-Carter, step-grandchildren James Supley and Kayla Forkey, and several nieces and nephews.  By her side until the very end was her furry feline companion of nearly 20 years, Shaq.

Charlotte's family would like to extend their most heart-felt gratitude to the staff at Pine Harbour Assisted Living Facility and Hospice of the North Country for their care and support.
