PLATTSBURGH—Christopher Lee Freeman, 34, of Margaret St. Plattsburgh passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023 at CVPH Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family and close friends.
He was born September 29, 1989 the son of John Freeman and Tina (Hillyard) Cole.
Chris was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and enjoyed reading scriptures.
Chris graduated from Plattsburgh High School and went to work in construction working locally in the area. Chris also enjoyed working on a local farm, he loved being outside, walking in the woods, tapping the maple trees, gathering sap and helping to make maple syrup, while working you may have seen Chris enjoying his favorite candy, fireball jawbreakers, some jerky or warhead candies in the hottest hot sauce. He also enjoyed working at Camso and was proud of his work there.
Chris loved his family and enjoyed being around his friends, he also had a spiritual side that loved life and actively engaged in it, by playing guitar, writing his own music, and drawing.
In Chris's spare time he loved to fly drones, hiking, camping, working out, gaming, old school Mario and playing on his PlayStation, watching movies with Jim Carey, Earnest and he couldn't miss a movie that had Shia LaBeouf in it, as he considered this to be his alter ego. He was prolific in magic, especially card tricks and making things disappear.
He is survived by his mother Tina E. (Freeman) Cole and her husband Corey; his father John Freeman; his grandparents Karen A. (Barber) Hillyard, John and Rebecca Freeman; siblings Hope Alexandra Freeman, Isaiah Michael Freeman; aunt Caroline Hillyard and her husband Praxedis Leyva; great-aunt and uncle Kathy (Barber) and Allen Baker; cousins Stephanie Freeman, Tasha Freeman, Michaella Hillyard-Owens, Johnathan Baker, Megan Baker, Amanda Baker, and several other aunts, uncles and cousins. He also is survived by his wife Alice Freeman.
He was predeceased by his grandfather Frank Charles Hillyard.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at 4:00pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 22 Dennis Ave. Plattsburgh, NY 12901.
Christopher's family are thankful that he was able to be an organ donor. Within six hours Christopher was able to save four lives that were desperately awaiting a miracle. His legacy will live on through his generous decision, he will touch countless others, as the families, friends and communities of those who receive his donated organs will be forever grateful through his selfless act of kindness to save and improve the quality of life for others.
