Obituary

PLATTSBURGH – Clarence J. Bushey, 92, formerly of North Catherine Street, passed away, Saturday, October 20, 2018.
He was born in Mooers, NY on July 24, 1926, the son of Fraser and Elmira (Reome) Bushey and loving stepson of Ruby Pratt Bushey.
Clarence served in the United States Army Air Force from 1945 to 1946. He was also very proud to have been a Veteran who took the Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.
Clarence married the former Esther Blair on June 7, 1948 in Mooers, NY.
He worked for several years as a corrections officer at the Dannemora State Hospital, retiring after over 36 years of service. During this time, Clarence had also worked at Agway in Plattsburgh, retiring following 40 years of service.
Clarence was a hardworking man who always enjoyed keeping busy. He devoted his life to his family and nothing brought him greater joy than sharing memories with them. Clarence could always be seen meticulously grooming his yard, home and garden, and it was enjoyed by all in the community. He will be deeply missed by all those who had the honor of knowing him.
Survivors include his loving wife, Esther Bushey of Plattsburgh; three children, Gerald and Laurie Bushey of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, Cathy and Edward Connell of Middleton, CT, and Michael and Jennifer Bushey of Plattsburgh; two sisters, Catherine Thorne and Leda Bushey; six grandchildren, Jennifer Colyer, Matthew Bushey, Sarah Lowe, Bryan Connell, Kevin Connell, and Katelyn Connell; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Clarence was predeceased by one sister, Gladys Bushey; brother, Gerald Bushey; and one great-granddaughter, Samantha Lane.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Pine Harbor and Meadowbrook Healthcare for the wonderful care they provided to Clarence.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in St. Peter's cemetery.
