MOOERS FORKS – Clarice Ethel Sample, 83, of the Blackman Corners Road, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 15, 2023.

She was born on January 26, 1940, daughter of Clarence and Lena (Brunell) Walker.

Ethel married Wright F. Sample on June 29, 1957 at the Mooers Forks United Methodist Church.  She worked alongside her husband for many years operating the Walker Family Farm on the Blackman Corners Road. From time-to-time, Mom took a job outside of the home but she is most known for the specialty cakes that she crafted for over 20 years. Beyond her talents in the kitchen, Mom was a devoted family woman. She found immense happiness in spending quality time with her loved ones, creating cherished memories that will be treasured forever. Her face lit up with pride and joy as she attended her grandchildren's sporting events, cheering them on from the sidelines. Her unwavering support and dedication will always be remembered by her loved ones.

Ethel was predeceased by her loving husband, Wright on July 30, 2016. Ethel was a former member of the Mooers Forks United Methodist Women and a former member of the Miramichi Dawn Chapter OES of Chazy #520.  She was a current member of the Three Steeples Methodist Church in Champlain.

Ethel is survived by her loving children, Randy (Kathy) Sample, Kirk Sample, Laura Sample, Amy (Sherb) House, Kris (Valerie) Sample, and Chad (Lorie) Sample;  son-in-law, Jerry Blauch;  brother, Bernard Walker;  sister, Clara Tripodi;  sisters-in-law, Helen Sample and Kathleen Dickinson;  twenty-one grandchildren, Vicki Hairston, Randy Sample II, Mandy Filion, John Sample, Andre Sample, Trista Bushey, Terrance Sample, Christopher Patton, Ian Brassard, Karissa Devins, Chelsey House, Walker Sample, Garrett Sample, Kellie Custer, Kyle Coupal, Kaitlin Coupal, Elijah Sample, Avah Sample, Elise Rock, Sherby House, and Aaron House;  thirty-four great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.  Also left behind to cherish her memories are many in-laws, nieces, nephews and friends.

Ethel was predeceased by her daughter, Beth Blauch on September 12, 2023;  her grandson, Scott House;  and siblings, C. George (Theresa) Walker, W. Robert (Doris) Walker, Bernice (Douglas) Wilson, Margaret (Leo) Gadway, Marion (Willis) Morrison;  and infant siblings Owen and Vivian.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 20th at 2:00 p.m. at Riverview Cemetery in Chazy.  A Celebration of Ethel's life will follow at 4:00 in the Blue Room at the Rainbow Banquet Hall in Altona, NY.
