Curt H. Hewitt, 81, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2026, at CVPH Medical Center, surrounded by love and in the arms of his devoted wife, Marsha.

Curt's passing leaves a tremendous emptiness in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He was a husband, brother, uncle, friend, outdoorsman, veteran, and a man who treasured the simple things in life—time spent with the people he cared about, being outdoors, and making memories that will live on long after him.

Curt and Marsha shared a special love and were married on October 18, 2008. Together they made their home at 1359 Cumberland Head Road, after previously living in Charlotte, Vermont. Their years together were filled with companionship, laughter, shared adventures, and the everyday moments that become the most precious memories.

Curt was born on March 27, 1945, the son of Ray and Madeline (Hartley) Hewitt. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Francis Hewitt.

Curt proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard Reserves, serving aboard the USCGC Dallas from 1965 to 1969. His service was an important part of his life, and he carried the pride of having served his country with him always.

Throughout his working life, Curt was known for his knowledge, dependability, and strong work ethic.

He was previously employed by MassMutual Life Insurance Company and Hilson Home Center. At the time of his passing, he was working as an estimator at Sample Lumber in Mooers, New York, a position he continued to take pride in.

Curt had a genuine love for the outdoors. Hunting was more than simply a pastime to him—it was a way of life and a source of many of his happiest memories. He especially treasured his time at the family camp in Corinth, Vermont, where he enjoyed hunting, spending time outdoors, and sharing stories and good times with his dear friends Scott Bouchard and Mike Sprano.

He was also a former member of the Sungah-Née-Took Shooting Range in North Ferrisburgh, Vermont, where his appreciation for shooting and the outdoors brought him together with others who shared his interests.

Curt will be remembered not only for the things he did, but for the memories he created and the people he touched along the way. He had a love for family and friends, a deep appreciation for the outdoors, and a special place in his heart for the animals he cared for. His beloved kitty companion, Buddy, brought him great joy and companionship. Buddy came from the Elmore SPCA, an organization that held special meaning to Curt.

Curt is survived by his loving wife, Marsha; family member Rebecca; sister-in-law Karen Hewitt; nephew Corin Hewitt and his wife, Molly; great-niece Martine Hewitt; brother-in-law Lou Muzzy and his wife, Kitty; and several cousins and dear friends.

Although Curt is no longer here to share a story, sit around the camp, enjoy a day outdoors, or simply be there for the people he loved, the memories he made will remain. His life will continue in the stories his family and friends tell, in the places he loved, and in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him. And for Marsha, who held Curt in her arms as he took his final breath, there will always be the love and memories of the life they shared. Their years together were a gift, and that love will remain forever.

At Curt's request, there will be no calling hours.
