Daniel
Handy
June 23, 1971 – October 18, 2025
Daniel Howard Joseph Handy, 54, of Plattsburgh, NY, passed away unexpectedly on October 18th, 2025.
Born on June 23rd, 1971, in Hudson, NY, he was the youngest of four children to Harold J. Handy Sr. and the late Nancy Mae Handy.
Daniel attended Ichabod Crane Central Schools in Valatie, NY, and later earned his G.E.D. He worked as a self-employed contractor for much of his career, a job he was deeply passionate about. Later in life, he joined the Carpenters Union - an accomplishment he was especially proud of.
In his earlier years, Daniel enjoyed being the drummer in a band. He loved fishing and camping with his children, listening to classic rock, and watching football, baseball, and NASCAR. A devoted fan, he cheered faithfully for the New York Yankees and New York Giants.
Daniel was a proud and loving father and was overjoyed to become a grandfather. Above all, he cared deeply about the achievements and happiness of his three children. If there was one trait that best defined him, it was his lightheartedness. He was always making those around him laugh with his quick wit, infectious smile, and warm sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren, family, and friends.
He is survived by his three children: Nathan Handy and fiancée Sasha Morton of Vermont; Seth Handy of West Chazy, NY; and Paige Handy of Plattsburgh, NY. He is also survived by his three beloved grandchildren, Preston, Amelia, and Micah; his father, Harold J. Handy Sr. of Valatie, NY; his sister, Jenny Handy of Niverville, NY; and his brothers, Harold Handy of Colorado, and David Handy and wife Michelle Handy of Niverville, NY. He also leaves behind five nieces and nephews, as well as his special companion, Heather Hicks of Plattsburgh, NY.
He was predeceased by his mother, Nancy Mae Handy.
