Daniel L.

Daniel Lee Hunsperger, of Plattsburgh, passed away on Wednesday, September 11th, 2024 at UVM Medical Center-CVPH in Plattsburgh with family by his side. He was born in Glens Falls, New York April 23,1944, the son of the late Marion (Brown) (descendant from Canada) and Walter Hunsperger.
Daniel attended SUNY Potsdam where he received his masters degree from Crane School of Music. Directly after graduating he took a position at Lyon Mountain School District, NY. Upon completing his first year, Daniel decided he liked the area and was offered a full-time teaching position at Northern Adirondack Central High School located in Ellenburg, NY where he taught chorus and conducted band. Daniel always encouraged his students to dream large and follow their passions. Although his career kept him very busy Daniel engaged in aviation lessons which earned him his pilots license and was then able to navigate a Cessna aircraft. An avid sports enthusiast, he enjoyed skiing, baseball, basketball, but his passion lied in golf which he played well into his retirement. Besides his love of sports Daniel enjoyed traveling, which included places such as Central and Eastern Europe, Egypt, Alaska, and many lovely vacations spots in the Caribbean. The last several years Daniel spent time in Florida during the winter months enjoying the sunshine, beach, golf, and good restaurants. Daniel is survived by his wife Evelyn Hunsperger of Plattsburgh (Montreal), and her son Alexander Racine from Plattsburgh, along with relatives and friends now dispersed throughout the United States.
