Obituary

David Earl Allen, formally from Saranac, New York, passed away at his home on March 7th, 2023. He will be remembered most for his faith and love for his family and country.

He dearly loved his family. His son, Paul Allen, and wife Robin, grandsons Jacob and Joshua, who are both proudly serving in the United States Army; Joshua in Fort Hood, TX, and Jacob in Fort Sill, OK. His son, Christopher Allen, and girlfriend, Lourdes, who live in Utah. Grandsons, Cody and Colton, who live in California. As well as six siblings and their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. David was a beloved son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

David left us with a rich legacy of "hoping against hope." He had a "never give up, even when the odds were stacked against you" kind of faith. He believed that if life knocked you down, to shake it off and get back up. He dearly loved the Lord and enjoyed listening to the K-Love radio station and singing inspirational songs.

David thoroughly loved his country, our flag and proudly served in the United States Marine Corps. He frequently wore his Marine Corps hat and would greet fellow Veterans with a hearty "Hello Brother-Semper Fi" and give them a vigorous handshake.

David was a rugged outdoorsman who loved working with his hands, whether it was tinkering with his tools, tilling, planting his vast vegetable gardens, splitting wood, or filling his barn with hay. He took pride in maintaining his farm and wholeheartedly enjoyed raising farm animals such as pigs, chickens, cows, and his beloved dogs.

David believed we should reach for the stars and that we may not get them all, but we could certainly grab a few. He believed that if you didn't take a risk, then you'd never know just how high you could fly. He said, "Airplanes are safe inside a building, but that's not why airplanes were built!" Soar high and Semper Fi, our beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend, until we meet again, we will carry on your legacy.

A memorial will be held on June 10th, 2023, in honor of David's 70th birthday. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Wounded Warrior Project, The Animal Welfare Institute, or The National Center on Addiction.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the R.W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court Street, Plattsburgh, NY.
