Obituary

The angels came on Sunday, February 12 th , early in the morning and with family, friends and hundreds of prayer warriors Dave was guided up to his God waiting with open arms.  He was surrounded by the most precious people in his life.  They sang him into his journey (although badly).  HE was the singer ; with his favorites "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", Here I Am, Lord", "Amazing Grace" and "The Dance".

Dave, 69, was born on Oct 1, 1953 in Burlington, VT to parents Allene & Austin Davis, who predeceased him.  He grew up in Brandon, VT with his older sister Gail and his younger sister Barb.  Dave married his wife Dee (Dolores Davis) of over 50 years on June 17, 1972.

Dave's second family was his family of Faith and his beloved church family of Chazy Presbyterian Church and previously Peru Community Church. Everyone was moved by his readings and his way of presenting the scriptures. He was always busy doing Vacation Bible school with over a 100 kids, helping with breakfast buffets, Christmas Caroling, you name it; he would be there.

Dave graduated Otter Valley High School in 1971 and entered the United States Air Force that same year and served proudly with his third family for over 21 years of active duty as a military police officer.  He was stationed in South East Asia, Delaware, Alaska, South Dakota, Saudi Arabia and New York.   He received his Bachelor's degree in Security Management in 1994.

After the military, Dave started his second career of 20 years at Wyeth/Pfizer Pharmaceuticals where he acquired his fourth incredible family. He held many different positions there forklifting around the warehouse was one of his favorites raising havoc, water fights with that special family and then moving onto management and running security for the company.

Dave is survived by his loving wife Dee whom he met at a multi church get-together for high school youth and became instant high school sweethearts and were together ever since; his most favorite daughter Heather (Freddie) Raymond and husband Brian of Peru, NY; and his bestest son Matthew Davis and his wife Katie of Pelham, NH.  David beamed over his two grandchildren Zackary Raymond of Syracuse, NY and Mikaela Raymond of Peru, NY.  He is also survived by his sister Gail Regin and husband Stan of Wilmington, NC; sister Barbara Young and brother-in-law John of Burlington, VT; three amazing nieces Michele, Liana & Heidi; as well as three grand nephews and three grand nieces.

Dave was a man of many talents!  An expert wood craftsman, building their 2 story-family home in 1987 and another 1 story home in 2016.  He made tons of furniture for family to treasure.  He could take a car apart and put back together with only a few leftover pieces that probably weren't important anyway. He was an avid aviator and loved flying his drones and radio-controlled huge planes.  His needlepoint pieces were exquisite, he could hook designer rugs, make detailed ceramic nativity sets, and was a fantastic square dance caller for 10 years (where he found his fifth family).  In the last five years Dave, ever the foodie, became a wonderful cook and was so proud to share his efforts with the family.

Dave will be remembered for his laughter, his joy, his compassion for his fellow man and his passion for life.

As he said often "I AM SO BLESSED IN EVERYWAY EVERY SINGLE DAY"

There will be no calling hours (Dave did not want to be on display with people walking by) INSTEAD, please join us for a reception and storytelling immediately following Dave's service. He loved food and friends together chatting, laughing and spreading love with one another.

Services will be Saturday February 25th at 11:00AM at Chazy Presbyterian Church, 620 Miner Farm Road, Chazy.  Pallbearers will be Tim Morris, Gary Lebak, LJ. Vincent and John Young

Dave was so adamant in his wish that NO CHILD go hungry, a mission of his. In lieu of flowers we ask that you bring food items to help stock the pantry shelves to feed our neighbors in need.  Other passions of his were North Country Honor Flight, donate a pint of blood in his honor and he loved shopping for the Christmas bureau every year.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the R.W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court Street, Plattsburgh, NY.
