Obituary

PLATTSBURGH- David L. Defayette, 80, of Military Turnpike, passed away on December 11, 2020 at the CVPH Medical Center.

He was born in Plattsburgh on May 28, 1940 the son of Henry and Elaine (Gonyea) Defayette.

David attended Mount Assumption School and St. John's School.

He served in the United States Navy from 1959-1963, stationed at Okinawa, Japan.

David married Carol Rabideau in 1964 in Dannemora, NY.

He owned and operated Defayette Construction retiring at the age of 75. He was an avid builder up until he got sick. His hobby was building bird and fairy houses.

David was a member of Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post #1566.

He was very proud of his military service. His trip to Washington, D.C. was one of his fondest memories. He was part of the North Country Honor Flight, #28.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Defayette of Plattsburgh; sons, David Defayette and his wife, Deborah and Scott Defayette and his wife, Amy all of Plattsburgh; daughter, Shery Liberty and her companion, Andrew Arno of Mooers; sister, Nancy Graves of Plattsburgh; grandchildren, David and Justin Liberty and Samantha, Stephanie, Brandon and Stephen Defayette; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, granddaughter, Joanie Defayette and a brother-in-law, Larry Graves.

Services will be private for the family.

Burial will take place in St. Peter's Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Fund or the CVPH Foundation Renal Center.
