MORRISONVILLE – Dawn M. Downey, 79, of Mason Street, passed away, November 25, 2023.

She was born on November 24, 1944, daughter of Harry and Elizabeth (Pickle) Sanger.

Dawn was a lover of Jesus, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many.

She served as a waitress at Arnie's in Plattsburgh, retiring after 31 years.  Dawn was valued and requested by her patrons.

She loved caring for and feeding her family.  Many family dinners found her cooking large meals that had "special favorites" for everyone.  We loved, laughed, and cried together around her kitchen table.  Dawn was the center of our family and was always available with hugs, tears, advice, and love!

Survivors include her loving husband, Ralph Downey whom she married on November 26, 1960;  sons, Peter Downey and Travis Downey (Lisa Baker);  daughters, Shelby (Kevin) Trombley, Sheila (Robert) Baker, and Sherri (Michael) Schnare;  sisters, Pauline Passno and Linda Cook;  grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Jennifer, Danielle, Chad, Jeremy, James, Scott, Ryan, Kristy, Tianna, and Ashley;  and 15 great-grandchildren.

Dawn was predeceased by her parents;  nine brothers and sisters;  and daughter-in-law, Tina (Trombley) Downey.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Donations in Dawn's name may be made to the Alice Center in Malone, NY or the Alzheimer's Association.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the R.W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court Street, Plattsburgh, NY.
