Obituary

PLATTSBURGH- Denis C. Mousseau, 66, of Kansas Avenue, passed away unexpectedly, October 18, 2019 in Australia, where he and his wife Shannon were vacationing on a trip of a lifetime.

Denis was born in Plattsburgh on August 26, 1953, son of Clifford and Florence (Andrews) Mousseau.

He married the love of his life, the former Shannon Murphy, on October 5, 1974 at Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh.

Denis served his country in the United States Marine Corp. from 1972 to 1975 as well as retiring from the United States Army following 27 years of service.

He was a giving and generous man who dedicated his life to helping those in need, especially fellow Veterans. Denis was a member of the American Legion Post 1619, an active volunteer for the North Country Honor Flight as well as a volunteer and officer for the North Country Veterans Association.

He worked for the United States Department of Defense as a Unit Administrator and the United States Postal Service where he recently retired as Supervisor in the Plattsburgh Post Office after over 30 years of government service.

Family and friends were most important to Denis. He loved spending time attending his granddaughter's athletic events, traveling, going fishing and golfing, and most of all celebrating and making special memories with those he loved.

Survivors include his loving wife of 45 years, Shannon Mousseau of Plattsburgh; his son, Michael Patrick Mousseau of Plattsburgh; brother, Gary (Kathyrn) Mousseau of Myrtle Beach, SC; sisters, Sharon (Jack) Baker of Morrisville and Tammy (Bill) Upton of Chazy; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kevin and Jeannine Murphy, Shane and Diane Murphy, and Colleen and Ken Hynes, all of Plattsburgh; granddaughter, Abigaile Noel Siskavich; five nieces and ten nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Denis was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Mark Mousseau and Todd Mousseau; and In-laws, Bernard and Peggy Murphy.

Calling hours will be held Monday, November 4 th from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh.

Donations in his memory may be made to the North Country Honor Flight or North Country Veterans Association.
