PLATTSBURGH – Desmond J. Giguere, 98, of Victory Place, passed away May 16, 2025.
He was born on February 17, 1927, son of William and Agnes (King) Giguere.
Desmond served in the United States Army during World War II and was Honorably Discharged in 1946.
He married the former Barbara Gilman in 1987 at the Plattsburgh United Methodist Church. Barbara predeceased him on June 15, 2007.
Following his service in the Army, Desmond worked for Baker and Fairchild Lumber Company on Boynton Avenue for a few years before he went to work for Plattsburgh Dairy on Sailly Avenue and then Bay View Dairy on Cumberland Head. He retired from Beekmantown Central School in 2001 after working for 21 years as a groundskeeper.
Desmond also owned and operated the Corner Bookstore.
Survivors include his daughters, Margaret Ayotte and her husband Allen, and Leslie Giguere; step-children, Paul Yost and his companion Heather, Michael Yost and his wife Angie, Paula Roberts and her husband William, Cathy Trombley and her husband Robert, and Patti McKinley and her husband Clifford; sister, Theresa Rasdall; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Desmond was predeceased by his parents; wife; son, Steven Giguere; and three brothers, Loren Giguere, Richard Giguere, and Gerald Giguere.
A private graveside service will be held at the Plattsburgh Community Mausoleum.
