Obituary

PLATTSBURGH, NY- Devin "Debo" Farrell, 39, passed away 28 March 2020 at his home in Plattsburgh NY.

Devin was the son of James R. and Dolores Ann Farrell. They joyfully adopted him on March 17, 1981, St. Patrick's Day, thus making it his father's favorite holiday for two reasons. As the youngest child, he was blessed to grow up with six older siblings.   When very young, Devin accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior, and later began a serious walk with God as he came to accept his frailties and the transience of life. He attended the Plattsburgh city schools and graduated in 1998 from Plattsburgh Senior High School. Some of his fondest memories while growing up were the summers spent playing in the waters of Chazy Lake at the family camp known as "Glendalough". Devin was a lifelong resident of Plattsburgh, and enjoyed his long partnership with his older brothers working at and managing McSweeney's Red Hots restaurants. His cheerful, engaging, and direct personality endeared him to the many friends he fostered across Northern NY. He was known simply as "Debo", and many of his acquaintances may not have known his given name as Devin. He was born without a full left arm. Some people may have considered him handicapped, but this never stopped him from achieving any of his life's ambitions, and he was affectionately known as the "Right Hand Man". Aside from his reputation as "King of the Grill" at McSweeney's Nitzi's location and on the family's annual Lobster Night, Debo loved fishing, the Yankees, country music, membership in the NRA, Fox News, anything Donald Trump, that Red Truck proudly flying three flags (United States Stars and Stripes, Gadsden, Trump), and his feline companions, Smokey and Ellie Mae. Also, he was the founder and CEO of the International YEE-YEE Boogity Boogity Society.

Devin is survived by his mother, his siblings: Stephen R. Farrell and wife JoAnn (Rigsby), Michael S. Farrell and wife Anne-Marie (Hostetler), Betsy Sheats and husband David, Katherine Kline and husband Edward, and Sara Giambruno and husband Ronald. He is also survived by his birth mother Erica Oakes and half siblings Bryan Lazore, Deanne Lazore, Jenna Oakes, Alaina Oakes and Keely Bova.   Devin was a beloved Uncle to the extended Farrell family: Bryan Allen (Jil), Kayleigh Jackstadt (Peter), James Farrell (Meghann), Chelsey Remillard (Joshua), Cal Michael Farrell, Levi Sheats (Katherine), Livingston Sheats (Elizabeth), Bailey Sheats, Kolin Kline (Lacey), Audrey Kline (Rachel), Candace Kline, Keenan Kline, Ashley Gryder (Joshua), Ryan Kirkpatrick (Susanne), and Joseph Kirkpatrick (Brittany), as well as their many children. He also leaves behind a very special friend, Brianne St. Louis.

He was predeceased by his father, his oldest brother James E. Farrell, his sister Mary Margaret and his nieces Amanda Kline and Alix-Anne Farrell.

Due to the on-going Covid-19 pandemic, there are no immediate funeral plans. He will be laid to rest with the Farrell Family at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Plattsburgh. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Foundation of CVPH earmarked for the Cardiac Rehabilitation Unit.
