Obituary

CHAZY, NY – Donald C. Favreau, 83, of the North Farm Road, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility.

He was born in Clinton, MA on March 28, 1935 the son of Edmond and Emma (Bosley) Favreau.

Donald married Madelaine Boire at St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy in 1957. Madelaine passed away January 20, 2009.

Donald was a dedicated and hardworking man who at a young age began working at a meat packing plant and later at Ray O-Vac Battery and Flashlight Company. He then went to work for ITT wire company of Clinton, MA until moving to Chazy. After moving to Chazy, Donald opened his own gas station and later, a Shell Station in Plattsburgh that he operated until 1968. Donald also served as Manager and Supervisor for Carrols Development on Route 3 for 12 years and worked as a Salesman for NAPA Auto Parts.

In 1989, Donald opened, DULL-SHARP, a sharpening shop on the Fiske Road in Chazy, which he operated for several years until his retirement.

He was a member of the Chazy Fire Department for 12 years, and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. Donald enjoyed woodworking and making various things for family and friends and was an avid Mets Fan.

Survivors include one son, Carter Favreau and wife Melissa of Chazy; two daughters, Joyce Favreau of Plattsburgh and Maryellen Favreau and life partner, Larry Normandin of Ellenburg Center; daughter-in-law, Genevieve Favreau of Saranac; siblings, Edmond and Pauline Favreau and Theresa (Favreau) and Francis Bastine all of Leominster, MA; grandchildren, David Favreau, Lester and Amanda Favreau, Elizabeth Favreau, and Emily Favreau; step-grandchildren, Jeremy and Jamie Perry and Darcy Avery; step-great-grandchildren, Leah and Peyton Perry and Raine Avery, many nieces and nephews; and his loving canine companion, Teisel.

He was predeceased by his wife; son, Maurice "Moe" Favreau; brothers, William, Hector, Leonard and Henry; and sister, Irene Spencer.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the R. W. Walker Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Chazy Fire Department or Sacred Heart Church.
