April 7, 1934 – June 30, 2019
Donald H. LaValley, 85, of State Route 9, Chazy, passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born April 7, 1934 in Mooers Forks, the son of Henry and Lena (Barcomb) LaValley.
Donald married the former Irene Miller on June 26, 1954 at St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks.
He was a member of the Chazy Fire Department and Chazy Lions Club. Donald was a Chazy Town Councilman for 20 years and President of CSEA for Chazy School.
He was employed as a Truck Driver for Bayview Dairy and Chazy Orchards. Donald was also a School Bus Driver for Chazy Central School.
In 2010, he was named King for the Chazy Old Home Days.
Donald loved music and dancing, camping and most of all spending time with his family.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Irene LaValley of Chazy; son, Dennis LaValley and his wife, Gail of Chazy; daughter, Donna Bechard and her husband, David of Champlain; grandchildren, Joshua and Danielle Bechard, Corey and Megan Spuck, Jon and Lindsay Greaney, Garrett and Cara Mastic; six great-grandchildren; sister, Janice LaValley of Rouses Point; his in-laws, Annette and Ray Hosler, Leeward and Monica Miller, Clarence and Debbie Miller, Lionel and Pat Miller, Roger and Lise Miller, and Pauline Miller; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; his father and mother-in-law, Leonard and Leona Miller; a granddaughter, Ashley LaValley; and in-laws, Anita Miller, Reginald Miller and Homer Miller.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Church Church in Chazy. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Donations in Donald's memory may be made to The Chazy Fire Department.
