WEST CHAZY--Dorothy (Dottie, Dolly, Dot) Helena Labossiere, 74, of the LaPlante  Rd. West Chazy, died Saturday, May 4th, 2024 at her daughter's home in West Chazy, after a short battle with cancer. She was born in Plattsburgh NY, July 13th 1949, the daughter of George and Helen (Marlin) Winterbottom.

She graduated Beekmantown Central School in 1967 and was known as the only woman on the boys, hardball team. During Dot's teenage years she worked at her family farm and then helped build the Chazy Recreation Center. She began working at Wyeth in Sept 1967, retiring in 1988. She also worked for many summers at Twin Ells campsite which was owned by her husband and brother in-law.

Dot loved to party with her best friends, Chris Giroux and Veronica LaCount. She enjoyed fishing with her good friend Cindy Reyell, and spending summer weekends with her friends at Twin Ells Campground, she loved playing slot machines, drinking Mich Ultra, eating Twinkies and riding her motorcycle. When she was 19, she crashed her motorcycle which left her permanently disabled. Dot also loved to trout fish in the brook behind her house. Dorothy wanted to thank her nephew Paul Wunk for always making her life a bit easier.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years Richard Labossiere; her daughter Valerie (Labossiere) Bertholf and her partner Jack Reed; granddaughter Helena (Evan) Burnell and her cat Cali; brother Roy and Lana Winterbottom; sister-in-law Sandra (Seymour) Winterbottom and brother in-law Bob Cross; many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was predeceased by her parents; brothers Gordon and Dale Winterbottom and sister Donna Cross.

A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held Sunday, May 19th at 3pm at the American Legion Post #20 Quarry Rd. Plattsburgh, family and friends will honor her wishes for a party.

Donations may be sent to Hospice of the North Country in memory of Dorothy.
