Obituary

PLATTSBURGH--- Elizabeth (Betty) S. Gregory, 98, formally of Lake Forest Drive, Plattsburgh, NY, passed away on April 12, 2019 at UVM Health Network CVPH.

She was born in Olmstedville, NY on September 4, 1920, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Sullivan.

Betty graduated high school at the age of 15 and from Plattsburgh Normal School in 1941 with a degree in Home Economics.

She married Francis (Frank) P. Gregory in June of 1942, and together they owned and operated Gregory Supply Company in Dannemora and Plattsburgh, NY. She later returned to Plattsburgh State and graduated with a Master's degree in Education. She would go on to teach at Keeseville Elementary School for 11 years before retiring in 1976.

Betty was a lifetime member of the Catholic Daughters in Dannemora, NY and was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Plattsburgh, NY. She wintered in Port St. Lucie and Vero Beach, FL for several years and was an active participant in many groups at St. Agnes Church, primarily the bereavement and widow's group.

Betty enjoyed playing golf in her early years and she loved to play Bridge and Sunday afternoon Scrabble with her dear friend Minnie. She also taught many residents of Lake Forest how to play Mahjong.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Francis, four infant children; John, James, Marguerite and Mary Ann, three adult children; sons Patrick and Stephen Gregory, and daughter, Mary Eileen Miller. Also predeceased, her brothers, Jack, Robert, Norman, Thomas Sullivan, her sister, Jean Hall and her grandson, William Miller.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Kathleen Heatherton of Plattsburgh, daughter-in-law, Dorothy Gregory of West Tisbury, MA; grandchildren, Shannon Carbon (Dan), Timothy Gregory (Chelsea Vandenameele), Kate Heatherton (David Betrus), Emily Heatherton Brown (Matthew), and Ashley Miller (Danny Perez), sister-in-law, Edna Sullivan, seven great-grandchildren as well as may nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to the nurses and staff on the 7thfloor at CVPH for their incredible care in her final hours and heartfelt gratitude to Erica Brooks at Meadowbrook Sub-Acute Rehab, for her kindness will never be forgotten.

There will be no calling hours however a funeral Mass will be held at St. John's Church on Friday, May 10that 11:00 am with burial to take place on Saturday, May 11thin St. Joseph's cemetery in Dannemora at 1:00 pm.

Donation can be made in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
