Obituary

KEESEVILLE, NY – Ella (Plumadore) Murcray, 86, of Keeseville, NY, passed peacefully with family by her side on May 23, 2024. Born on November 26th, 1937 to Frank and Mary Plumadore in Saranac, NY, she was the youngest of 9 children. She is survived by one sister, Jeanette Taylor.

Ella married her husband, Howard Murcray, in 1965 and welcomed their only child together, Linda (Robbie) Plank in 1966. Ella had three children from a previous marriage: a daughter, Patricia (her late husband, William) Wright, and two sons, Patrick Parrish and Ronald (Birgit) Parrish, who predeceased her. She was a loving grandmother to Kristi (Rynn Klapak) Haynes, Chelle (Michael Healey) Haynes, Joshua Haynes, Patrick 'PJ' Parrish, Kimberly (John) Cranmer, Angela Parrish, Patrick Parrish, Robert Wright, Olivia Plank and Mason Plank.

Ella took pride in her role as a homemaker, caring wife, loving mother, and adoring grandparent. She had the opportunity to travel the world with her husband during his time in the active military, living in Texas, Georgia, and Germany, before returning home to the Adirondacks to raise their family. Ella loved gardening in her younger years, with a strong affinity for strawberries, and had a deep love of animals that lasted throughout her life. She loved bird watching and was an avid country music fan, especially George Strait and Elvis Presley.

Nothing in life was more important to Ella than her family and her pets, which included cats, dogs, fish, and birds. She was the first to welcome her home to any animal in need and rescued dozens of animals throughout her life. While her children and grandchildren were in school, she would travel with them to many events and support them in their recitals, athletic events, graduations, and other extracurricular activities, always loving the opportunity to spend time with her family. She would often watch or listen to her "stories" (soap operas) and play Tetris, board games, and cards with her grandchildren after school. Few people could beat Ella in a game of rummy.

Showing strength throughout her recent health battles in her later years, Ella was known to be an unstoppable force. Her bravery was inspiring, and her laughter was contagious. She will be deeply missed by all those who loved her.

Ella was predeceased by her parents and 7 siblings.

She requested to have no services and to be buried with her husband at a later date. Donations can be made in her name to Elmore SPCA.
