Enola
Craig
April 6, 1922 – December 29, 2021
Enola Craig, 99, of Cadyville, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, at The Alice Center in Malone, where she had been a resident since August 2019.
Enola, the daughter of Arthur H. and Minnie Buck Parsons, was born on the family farm, Buck's Corners Road in Saranac, on April 6, 1922. She attended one-room schools and graduated from Dannemora High School.
On November 1, 1941, she married Harry Craig. That union lasted until his death on November 3, 1989. She lived on Hardscrabble Road for seventy- six years until moving in with her son in December 2017.
During the early years of their marriage, Enola and Harry were active members of Saranac Valley Grange. She was later a project leader, then organizational leader of the Happy Hustlers 4-H Club, while working side by side with Harry on the farm. In her early senior years she was a babysitter, first for her own grandchildren and then for a number of friends and neighbors, being called Grandma by all. She was a member of two senior organizations.
Enola's door was always open for visitors; there was always room for another plate at the table. She was known for her chocolate cake, zucchini bread, and banana bread. She was a wonderful neighbor, and her neighbors were wonderful in return. She was a favorite aunt of many.
Enola is survived by a daughter, Mary Craig of Malone, a son, Eric Craig of North Bangor, a daughter by love, Judy (Andy) Guynup of Cadyville, and friends Randy and Lisa Rasco of Saranac; her biological grandsons Joel (Sarah) Craig of North Bangor, and Josh (Becca) Craig of Chateaugay, as well as grandchildren by love including Kirk (Corrine) Guynup, Andrea (Michael) LaForest, Brad (Krissy) and Matt Rasco, Morgan and Brittany O'Connell, and others. She has one great-grandson, Brayden Craig, as well as great-grandchildren by love, Colton Cane, Hadleigh and Aiden Guynup, Isabella and Arianna Rasco. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by special neighbors, without whom she would not have been able to remain in her home for so long: Clark and Jodi Currier and family, Brian and Mel O'Connell, and Robbie and Heather Coryer and family.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son Daniel Craig at birth, and her siblings and spouses: Elliot Parsons, Ray (Hope) Parsons, Donald (Ruth) Parsons, Leonard Parsons, and Lottie (Albert) Relation.
