Eudgere "Jerry"
Barcomb
October 22, 1941 – September 3, 2022
CHAZY – Eudgere "Jerry" Barcomb, 80, of Chazy was welcomed by the Lord on Saturday September 3, 2022 following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family as he completed his Earthly journey.
He was born on October 22, 1941 on the family farm in Mooers Forks, the son of Arthur and Mary Jane (Trudeau) Barcomb.
Jerry was a 1960 graduate of Mooers High School, and attended Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree in 1965. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1967, and stationed at Fort Meade, MD. He remained active duty for 2 years, and for 1 year following in the reserves.
At a dance in Ellenburg on July 4 th , 1969, he met his future wife, Noreen (Nephew) Barcomb. They were married November 7, 1970 at St. Bernard's Church in Lyon Mountain, NY. Together, they welcomed 4 children: Lisa (Heath) Barcomb Krier and their children Michala, Jainna, and Halle of Lincolnshire, IL; Lee (Christy) and their children Sophie and Max of Chazy; Brandy (Bradley) Juneau and their children Celine, Alain, Marin, and Elias of Chazy; and Casey of Plattsburgh. Jerry is also survived by a brother, Reginald of Batavia, NY; sister Rhea (David) Lewis of North Adams, MA; sister Marie "Edna" Hansen of Carpinteria, CA, sister-in-law Shirley Barcomb of Mooers Forks; and brother-in-law Angelo Giuliano of Towsen, MD. He is predeceased by his mother and father, brother Lionel Barcomb, sister Rita Giuliano, sister-in-law Joanne Barcomb, and brother-in-law Craig Hansen.
Jerry worked as a pharmacist at Mousseau Pharmacy in Chazy for 33 years, and then upon their closing, Kinney Drugs for 15 more, retiring after 48 years in 2013. He served as President of Chazy Youth Hockey for many years, and was instrumental in not allowing that organization to be absorbed by other larger local organizations. Jerry was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church in Chazy, and a volunteer with the religious education program there. In 2018, Jerry and Noreen were crowned King and Queen of the Chazy Old Home Day.
He had a passion for farming and gardening, and always grew a bountiful garden. He was a devoted New York Yankees and Montreal Canadiens fan, with a great memory of when he and Casey met his idol Maurice "Rocket" Richard in Plattsburgh. He loved and cherished every moment he got to spend with his grandchildren, often tearful when it was time for them to go home, saying "Come back and see me soon."
Calling hours will be at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh on Thursday September 8 th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Chazy on Friday, September 9 th at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.
