Eugene L.
Fehr
May 21, 1944 – April 6, 2023
AUSTIN, TX – Eugene L. Fehr, 78, formerly of Plattsburgh, passed away, April 6, 2023.
He was born on May 21, 1944, son of Norman and Phyllis (Fortner) Fehr.
Eugene was a teacher with the Plattsburgh City School District for numerous years until his retirement.
He married the former Maxine Hofmann on August 12, 1967 in Syracuse, NY.
Eugene was a man of incomparable integrity. He was a man of his word, faithful to his family and beliefs.
He served, protected, and discipled his children, and so many others, that crossed his path.
Eugene was an avid gardener and in each of the eleven homes he shared with my mother, he planted roses for her. But he also planted so much more, he planted seeds of adventure, wonder, and wisdom and created a safe place to grow, to dream, to stumble. His family was always seen and heard, challenged and valued. He celebrated their victories, and held them when they grieved.
Eugene worked tirelessly to provide and was generous with what he was given. He'd apologize when needed, and was a servant always willing to help others.
He was a proud father and grandfather and his love for each of them was evident, but nowhere more so than his love for his loving wife. Even as his mind was slowly taken, his heart remained, and every day, he told her how much he loved her. She was his "beauty" and all was okay as long as she was by his side. He was often moved to tears with his love for her and remained protective and supportive until the end.
Eugene leaves a hole that will never be filled, but we remain hopeful that we will see him again and know that when he met his Savior, he was greeted with the words, "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
