Obituary

PLATTSBURGH – Florence Powers, 97, of Oak Street, passed away, June 13, 2020.

She was born in Beekmantown on September 29, 1922, daughter of Israel and Delima Rose (Bourdon) Favreau.

Florence attended a one room school house on the O'Neil road in Beekmantown through 8 th grade and then high school at Our Lady of Victory Academy, graduating in 1940. She married Milton Powers on July 20, 1942 at St. Joseph's Church in West Chazy. They owned and operated a dairy farm in Beekmantown until his death in 1965.

Florence worked at the Clinton County Nursing Home as a cook for numerous years until her retirement in 1982. She was a past member of the RSVP, St. Joseph's and St. Peter's Altar Rosary Society, and the Senior Citizens Friday Club where she had also served as Treasurer for 7 years.

Florence was an avid card player, but her favorite pastime was spending time with her loving family.

Survivors include her daughters, Jean Marie Bell and Sheila (Richard) Aguglia both of Plattsburgh; grandchildren, Christina (Michael) McClatchie, Scott (Shannon) Aguglia, Sherry Aguglia (Brent Whitesell), and Melissa (Tim) Dingess; great-grandchildren, Stefani (Neil) Tanzosh, Christopher Roberts, Joshua Gowett, Natalie and Annabel Aguglia; great-great-granddaughters, Ava and Claire Tanzosh; and several nieces and nephews.

Florence was predeceased by her parents; her husband Milton Powers; daughter, Patricia Parent; son-in-law, James Bell; grandson, Joseph; and siblings, Albert, Frank, Luverne, Lawrence, Armond, Emery, Raymond, Clarence, Mary, Lillian, Angeline, Della, Laura, Mae, Ida, and Edna.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Burial will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery in West Chazy.

Donations in her memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or for masses said in her memory.
