DANNEMORA- Gary J. Donivan, 80, of Clark St. Dannemora, NY passed away Thursday, June 13, 2019 at the CVPH Medical Center. He was born June 7, 1939, the son of Norman and Veronica (Deso) Donivan.

Gary married the former Phyllis Venne at St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora on May 4, 1962. He proudly served his country in the Marine Corps. He worked as a Correction Officer for 30 years, retiring in 1995 as a Lieutenant. Gary owned and operated GW Service, then the 8 Post Tavern. He also owned Lawliss Investigative Agency. In his spare time, Gary was a member of Champlain Valley Amateur Radio Club, where he served as Vice-President for many years. His call sign was AD2Z. He also enjoyed being a member of the Siberian Rod and Gun Club and tinkering with model trains.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis; one daughter, Novia-Lee Wood and her husband Mark, one son, Gary Donivan Jr. and his wife Patricia; and grandchildren, Dana-Lynn Mintz (Darren), Kevin Wood (Afton), Maura Donivan, Justin Donivan, Hayleigh Wood, Vala Wood, David Mintz, and Michael Tippins Jr.; two step-great-grandchildren, Kiara and Alexander Gilbert. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Gary was predeceased his parents, his brother Wayne Donivan, his sister Betty Donivan McCumber, and his step-father Adrian Venne.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 18 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 am at St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora. Military honors will take place following the Mass.
