PLATTSBURGH – Gary G. LaForest, 83, formerly of Ollivetti Place, passed away, March 14, 2019.

He was born in Chazy, NY on March 30, 1935, the son of George and Dora (Caron) LaForest.

Gary married the former Vivian Riley on February 6, 1954. He worked for the City of Plattsburgh as a Heavy Equipment Operator and retired in 1990 after 39 years of service.

Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Vivian LaForest of Plattsburgh; daughters, Susan and Jerry Garritillo of LaFayette, NY and Laura and Mark Lareau of Peru; grandchildren, Aaron and Becky "Faith" Garritillo, Travis Garritillo, Josh and Nicole LaSalle and Michelle Lareau; great-grandchildren, Emily Garritillo, Shay Garritillo, Raquel LaSalle, Audrey LaSalle, and his first great-grandson arriving in May; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

Entombment will take place in Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens in Plattsburgh.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Plattsburgh Salvation Army.
