Gene F.
Stone
September 6, 1956 – July 31, 2023
Gene F. Stone, 66, passed away peacefully, after a lifelong battle with heart disease, surrounded by family on July 31st in Boston at Mass General Hospital. A resident of Schuyler Falls, NY, he was born on September 6, 1956, to Roy and Theresa Stone (LaValley), who predeceased him. His beloved sister, Holly Stone, and a dear nephew, Seth Shinn, also preceded him in death.
Gene was a dedicated and hardworking individual who spent many years working as a plumber with Gibraltar Construction. His commitment to his work and his colleagues will always be remembered. He was an avid musician and guitar player who would always show up with his guitar in hand, ready to put a smile on everyone's face. He also enjoyed hunting and spending time at his family's camps. He loved running the roads, visiting with friends and family. He had a love for animals like no other and would always feed any strays he found.
He is survived by his loving sons, Danny Stone (Shannon), Travis Stone, and his cherished grandson, Jacob Stone. Gene also leaves behind his siblings, Steve (Debbie)Stone of Dannemora, Candy (Mike)Thibodeau of Perry Mills, Sue Stone (Butch)of Elgin, South Carolina, Lynn (Timothy) Nephew of Beekmantown, Missey (Carl) Monette of West Chazy and Cory (Sherry) Stone of Plattsburgh. Gene was a beloved uncle to several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Taz, who will miss him dearly.
Gene was a person who brought life, love, and laughter to everyone around him. He was known for his kind heart and generous spirit. The love he had for his family was immeasurable, and he always put the needs of others before his own. His passing is a substantial loss to everyone who knew him, and he will be missed dearly.
The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff that helped take care of our beloved Gene during his time at Mass General. The family would also like to thank everyone for their support during this difficult time and ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made, in Gene's memory, to an animal shelter of your choosing or The Heart Brothers Foundation (HEARTBROTHERS.ORG/DONATE), who was a blessing during this journey.
There will be a celebration of life for Gene on Sunday August 13, 2023, at 2pm at 911 Perry Mills Rd. Champlain, NY 12919.
Arrangements are with the R.W. Walker Funeral Home, 69 Court Street, Plattsburgh, NY.
