DANNEMORA – Genevieve "Jenny" M. Dumas, 70, of Cook Street, passed away September 26, 2018 at the CVPH Medical Center.

She was born in Plattsburgh on October 23, 1947, the daughter of Hugh and Irene (Garsow) Drollette.

Jenny married Richard Dumas on December 27, 1975 at St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora. Dick passed away on July 5, 2001.

Jenny and Dick purchased Frenette's Grocery Store in 1981, later adding an ice cream shop (Kelly's Ice Cream) and small liquor store. In 1997, they closed the grocery and ice cream portion of the business to expand the liquor store. Jenny was a successful business owner who prided herself on being there for her customers and the community. She was a business owner for 37 years and always smiled when she referred to her customers as family.

Jenny cherished the moments spent with her family and especially her grandson. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her daughter, Kelly Valenti and her husband Frank of Belford, NJ; grandson, Christian Valenti of Belford, NJ; nine brothers and sisters, Hugh C. and Eva Drollette of Saranac, Georgette and Richard Couture of Dannemora, Linda Drollette of Dannemora, Brenda Kramer of Dannemora, Jackie Ryan of Cadyville, Shirley Drollette of Dannemora, Bernadette and Gary Hart of Dannemora, Scott Drollette of Plattsburgh, and Andrea and Scott Bosworth of Dannemora; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jenny was predeceased by her husband; her brother, Walter Drollette; sister, Barbara Bracken; brother-in-law, Pat Ryan; nephew, Scott Bracken and niece, Tonya Couture.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 29th at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Donations in Jenny's memory may be made to The Dannemora Fire Department or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
