George Joseph
Desrocher
January 7, 1936 – February 24, 2022
Our family's "Best in the West" man, George Joseph Desrocher, 86 of Beekman Towers, Plattsburgh, died Thursday, February 24, 2022, at the Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont. Born January 7, 1936 in Plattsburgh, he was the son of Clifford and Lillian (Corron) Desrocher.
George was raised on Bailey Avenue and attended local schools. He spent his lifetime in Plattsburgh and worked a the Lakeside Container Company as a committed and loyal employee for over 47 years. George enjoyed the simple things. He loved "old" western music and was known to do a little spontaneous jig on the side. He had a terrific memory of family and Plattsburgh history, fond recollections of time spent on his grandparents' farm, and was always up-to-date on local and world news. Honest to a fault, George enjoyed visiting, playing cards, Wii bowling and eating out with his buddies. He had a unique sense of people and picked his friends wisely. One of George's most treasured times was his 2006 trucking adventure. The joy and memories of that trip remained with him to the day he died.
George is survived by a sister, Mary Ellen Everleth, of Plattsburgh, along with two very special nieces, Melissa (Zane) Adams and Kathleen (Garry) Danussi, and their children, Emily, Abby, and Lily Adams, and Mitchell and Nicholas Danussi. A sister-in-law, Mary Desrocher, and her family of Lake Placid also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Nancy, in 2012, and a brother Roy in 1982.
To honor George's wishes, there will be no services. Burial will take place in St. Peter's Cemetery in the spring. His unassuming, loving ways will be greatly missed and cherished in our memories forever.
