PLATTSBURGH – Geraldine M. Garrand, 95, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Plattsburgh Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, with her loving family by her side.
She was born in Mooers, NY on January 14, 1928, daughter of Robert and Julia (Sharrow) Morrison. Geraldine was a communicant of St. Ann's Church for numerous years, a member of the Ladies of St. Ann's, and life member of the DAV Auxiliary.
Geraldine enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, baking her famous Christmas cookies, working on jigsaw puzzles and word search books.
Survivors include her nine children, Robert Garrand of Plattsburgh, NY, Bernadette (Garth) Blow of North Port, FL, Barbara Garrand of Hemmingford, Quebec, Rita (James) Nichols of Burlington, VT, Norma Garrand of Theresa, NY, Brenda (Gary) Luther of North Syracuse, NY, Joan Garrand of Fairbanks, AK, Michael Garrand of Mooers, NY, and Steven (Leisa) Garrand of Plattsburgh, NY; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; goddaughter (niece) Pam Manor; numerous nieces and nephews, along with Robin Pageau, her caregiver and best friend.
She was predeceased by her husband Bernard Garrand and eight siblings, Charles Morrison, Leonard Morrison, Lawrence Morrison, Willis "Pete" (Marion) Morrison, Eleanor Baker, Gertrude Turner, Mildred Morrison, and Pauline (Loyal) Baker. She was also predeceased by one son-in-law, Bruce Juneau; one daughter-in-law, Lona Garrand; two grandsons, Johnny Dauphinais and Michael Deneault.
The family extends their sincere gratitude and appreciation for the loving care and compassion provided by Robin Pageau, the staff at Plattsburgh Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and Hospice of the North Country.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00 to 6:00pm Thursday July 6, 2023 at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday July 7th at 2:00 pm at St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks. Entombment will follow at the Town of Ellenburg Mausoleum in Ellenburg Depot.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Hospice of the North Country, North Country Honor Flight, or a local charity of your choice.
