March 15, 1934 – March 27, 2026
MORRISONVILLE – Gerard E. “Jerry” Kelly, Jr., 92, of Morrisonville, NY, passed away, March 27, 2026. He was born in Quincy, MA on March 15, 1934, graduated from Boston College High School in 1951, and from the University of New Hampshire in 1955. A talented first baseman, he then played for the Pittsburgh Pirates affiliate team in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec for a few short months, but was soon drafted into the U.S. Army and sent to Germany. It was there that he met the love of his life, Edelgard “Edda”. Jerry was honorably discharged from the Army and they moved back to Quincy where he started a long business career.
Career moves took the family to Sheffield Lake, OH, then Rockford, IL, and finally to Morrisonville, NY in 1976. They loved the area and community so much that they never left. Jerry was in management at Harris Graphics in Champlain, NY until it closed. He then became the director of the Essex County Industrial Development Agency and eventually the President of the Clinton County Area Development Corporation, until his retirement in 1997.
Jerry was very involved with his community. He was a councilman for the Town of Schuyler Falls. He & Edda were on the Plattsburgh Air Force Base Liaison Committee until the base closed in 1995. Jerry volunteered at the outpatient registration desks at the CVPH main hospital and the Kevin Carroll Ambulatory Surgery Center. He was a founding member of the CVPH Foundation and served for 22 years. Jerry served on the Board of Trustees for Clinton Community College for 20 years. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 20. Jerry served on various committees for the Plattsburgh Sunrise Rotary Club for many years and in 2011 he was awarded the prestigious Paul Harris Award for outstanding community service.
Jerry was predeceased by his loving wife Edda in 2023 and his youngest son, Richard “Ronnie” Kelly in 2022. He is survived by his oldest son, Gerard “Jerry” Kelly III. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 10th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the R.W. Walker Funeral Home. A brief service will take place at 5:00 in the funeral home chapel, followed by Military Honors.
