Obituary

Gerrard Roland Miner, 75, of Ellenburg Depot, passed away on February 4, 2025, at CVPH Medical Center Plattsburgh NY after a long illness.

He was born June 16, 1949, at the Malone Alice Hyde Hospital, the son of William and Lillian (Menard) Miner and was the youngest of six children.

Gerrard attended Chateaugay school until 9th grade. He joined the United States Air Force in 1967. While in the Air Force he served in Vietnam and lived in Plattsburgh, Guam, South Dakota, and North Dakota retiring in 1987 as a master sergeant.

When he retired Gerrard moved back to the North Country to be closer to family.

In his second career Gerrard was a technician at Blue Haven Campground in Ellenburg NY.

Gerrard was predeceased by his daughter Rachel, parents William and Lillian, brothers Robert (Bob), Anthony (Tony), Marshall, and Lloyd, sister Josephine (Josie) Langevin, and niece Sheila LaBombard.

Gerrard is survived by his previous spouse Melanie Lapointe (whom he shared his 4 daughters), daughters Heather Miner, Sarah Miner, and Marlana Miner-Canale, and son-in-law David Canale.

Gerrard leaves behind many relatives and friends.

He was known by many names Gerry, George, Miner. He loved spending time with his daughters. Having a good meal which often included a nice piece of steak.

He loved being outside – feeding the birds, riding Four-wheelers, target shooting, hunting, and fishing. He was often found tinkering in his garage on some random piece of equipment he had acquired.

Gerrard also enjoyed riding the roads to go "visiting" with friends and family over a cup of coffee and a game of cards or dice.

Some of Gerrard's most treasured moments were his phone calls to his best friend and "brother" Richard "Pat" in California. These calls brought laughter, joy, and comfort to him.

The family would like to thank everyone who supported Gerrard during this past year including the wonderful staff of CVPH Medical Center and Meadowbrook nursing home. Per Gerrard's wishes there will be no services.

Burial at Sheldon Hill Cemetery in Ellenburg will be later and at the convenience of the family.

Donations may be made in Gerrard's name to the North Country Honor Flight.

He had wanted to take this flight, but his body would not allow, and your donations will help other veterans realize this dream.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the R.W. Walker Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 69 Court Street, Plattsburgh, NY.
