WEST CHAZY – Gertrude B. Dean, 93, of Rt. 22 passed away Saturday, October 23, 2021 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Mooers on August 14, 1928 the daughter of Joseph and Irene (Kingsbury) Dumas.

Gertrude attended Mooers Central School and graduated from Champlain Central School. She married Albert Dean on June 14, 1947 in Albany NY.

Gertrude and Albert owned and operated Dean's Poultry Farm in West Chazy for many years. Later in life Gertrude enjoyed working in the Children's department at Merkel's Department Store in Plattsburgh.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Plattsburgh, and belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star. Gertrude also was a member of the Garden Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Melody and Barry Dimick of Beverly Hills, FL, Mary Ellen Dean of West Chazy; grandson Barry Albert Dimick and his wife Krista; three nieces and 5 nephews.

Gertrude was predeceased by her husband Albert Theodore Dean, brother Lawrence and sisters Joyce and Patricia.

A graveside service will be announced at a later date at the Dragoon Cemetery in Sciota.
