Gilbert (Gil) William Cashman, 90, of Plattsburgh, NY passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025. He was born in Plattsburgh, NY on October 27, 1934 to Arthur and Grace Cashman. He grew up in Plattsburgh attending St. Peters School and eventually moved to Hartford, CT. While in Hartford Gil met the love of his life, Louise, through his sister Nancy. Louise and Nancy both attended St. Augustine's School. Excited to start their new lives together they were married at St. Augustine's Church on May 10, 1957.
A proud veteran, Gil served 9 years in the Army, attaining the rank of Staff Sargent. He was drafted in 1957 and fought in the Vietnam Conflict. During his time in the military, he was stationed in Colorado Springs and Germany.
After his military service, Gil and Louise returned to Plattsburgh NY to start their own family. Gil was a devoted father to Carolyn Marie and Curt Mayette. He took great pride in being a parent and proud of his children and their accomplishments. He was also very active in the community, owning the local restaurant C and C Grinders and The Station, coaching baseball, and being an active member of the Knights of Columbus.
Gil will always be remembered for his generosity and the way that he was always there to help others. We couldn't have asked for anyone better and will miss Gil every day. Gil's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Gil was preceded in death by parents Arthur Sr. and Grace Cashman, daughter Carolyn Prickett, Brother Arthur Cashman, Sister Nancy Niedzwiecki, Sisters and Brothers in Law Shirley (Roy) Anderson, and Carol (Pete) Hurley.
